SOUTH Lincs Competitive Swimming Club starlet Chloe Hannam followed in the footsteps of Rebecca Adlington at a Midland short course event in Corby.

Hannam took the 400m freestyle title for the Spalding club in the first of two open final appearances, something won three times by the double Olympic gold medallist in her younger years.

She was joined by team-mates Sophie Taylor, Cheryl Wilson, Bethany Walker and Philippa West in the pool – with the quintet all on fine form.

Wilson was in incredible form, clocking four individual personal best (PB) times – of which three were Midlands Qualifying Times (MQT) too.

Her times were 31.31secs in the 50m back, 1.10.93mins in the 100m IM, 2.23.06mins in 200m back and 1.06.50mins in 100m back.

Taylor was also back to her very best form, clocking 1.58.51mins in the 100m Back and 6.58.51mins in the 400m free.

As well as her 400m free success, Hannam had a heart stopping weekend as she set five MQTs. In her other open final she was third in the 400m IM with a PB time of 4.54.23mins – which was also a national time.

She also set PBs in the 200m back (2.18.62mins) and 100m free (59.42secs).

Wilson and Hannam then teamed up with West and Walker in two open relays (4x100m free and 4x100m IM), with Wilson managing to further better her 100m back PB in her stint (1.05.84mins).
