Moulton Marsh racer Simon Goodale continued his great performances in 2012 as he took a career-best fourth place in the Unlimited Banger World of Shale Final at the Norfolk Arena on Saturday.

The final, which was won by Martin Wesby (Northampton), is the biggest race of the year for the top banger aces who concentrate on the loose and Goodale’s fantastic drive has cemented a fabulous 2012 which currently sees him sit in fifth place in the National Points Championships – another career best placing!

Will Longford (Holbeach) was also in great form as he took home an Entertainer Award for a devastating performance in the Consolation.

The 2L Stock Cars were also in action. Simon Venni (Long Sutton) was the best local finisher in the final coming home in eighth place. Kris Woods (Snettisham) took the chequered flag.

The weekend also saw 1300 Stock Car British Champion Dan Booth (Pinchbeck) defend his British title at Lochgelly in Scotland.

As expected, the local drivers ganged up against the few English visitors which saw Booth fail to finish the main race, although he put up a very spirited display and certainly won more than a few admirers north of the border following some great drives.
