ATHLETICS: Magic Martin lands big win

MARTIN Clarke stole the show as Bourne Town Harriers took on round two of the Peterborough Grand Prix at Eye.

In the 3km race, Clarke was not only first Harrier home – but he did it in style by winning the category.

He was supported by Aaron Hunt, Megan Ellison, Beth Howells, Saskia Hunt, Molly Bennett, Leah Clark, Daniel Lawrance, Keeley Caven and Ffion Simpson.

For the 5km event, Rich Lomas-Brown edged ahead of Joe Howells, with Shaun Hill, Rob Caven, Shaun Towell, Karen Clark and Penny Lamb also in support.

Howells still leads the junior boys series, with Hunt leading the girls. Lomas-Brown and Lamb lead their respective senior series’.

This Sunday, the juniors members’ annual club track and field tournament takes place at Bourne Grammar School (9am-2pm).

Meanwhile, the club’s next 5km and 3km race is at Ferry Meadows tomorrow night.

l Main club training night for Bourne Town Harriers is on Tuesdays, starting promptly at 6.30pm. Junior specific training is on Fridays from 6pm-7pm. A further senior training night is on Thursdays.

Training sessions are varied and cater for all types of ability. It continues all year round, with free expert advice from qualified coaches and new runners of any ability always welcome to come along and find out more.
