HOLBEACH chief John Chand was understandably delighted with the dramatic nature of the win and heaped praise on his charges, but felt poor refereeing decisions threw Spalding a lifeline...
He said: “I always thought this was going to be feisty one. You’re never going to play your best football in a derby match, but I’m really happy we grabbed the win at the end.
“I told Goody to go on and win us the game and he did just that. He’s not played as much as he’d like lately, but that was a cracking strike and he’s got that in his locker.
“Chris Johnson looked sharp and got a great goal and I though Derwayne Stupple was immense in midfield. Jonny Allen led the defence superbly too.
“But I have to say, the refereeing was poor. Their player should have been sent off after giving away the penalty and the ball was out for Smith’s goal.
“I don’t really want to go into what happened at the end. I think everyone knows there was a bit of a coming together and it’s common knowledge why. I spoke to Pat Rayment and it’s finished with as far as we’re concerned.”
