On and on and on, keep on knitting baby...

There are just two weeks left to help knit for a show at the South Holland Centre. Billed ‘a self-assembly Swedish crime thriller’ by its creators Lip Service Theatre, Inspector Norse on Thursday, February 6 is set to be a jolly good yarn. What else could you possibly expect from a production with a knitted set?

We’ve seen lots of imaginative stage sets in our time but the results of the nimble knitters throughout their UK tour so far have left us in stitches: a knitted cat, knitted telephone, knitted painting, knitted leaves and even knitted melting snow.

So if you want to create a leaf or something more adventurous for Inspector Norse, join us with your needles and oddments of wool in the centre’s Café Bar this Thursday between 3pm and 5pm. We’ll provide the knitting patterns and plenty of tea to keep things clattering along nicely.

If you can’t make the knitting afternoon but still wish to contribute, take a look at the Lip Service website www.lipservicetheatre.co.uk/knit ting where you will find pictures of the props and their associated knitting patterns, or pop in and collect one from the box office.

You don’t have to be a wool worshipper to enjoy this daft detective show, but a silly sense of humour, an appreciation of Nordic-themed TV shows and an awareness of infamous 1970s Swedish pop bands would definitely help!

The brains behind Inspector Norse are Lip Service’s Maggie Fox and Sue Ryding who have been making people laugh for over 20 years. They have had their own comedy series on BBC Radio 4, won numerous awards at the prestigious Edinburgh Festival, and are the ‘Laurel and Hardy of literary deconstruction’ according to The Guardian.
