HOLBEACH UNITED U/12s 5 SLEAFORD TOWN U/12s 0: GOAL-HUNGRY Holbeach notched their 100th of the season as they romped to victory.

Josh Lawrence’s cool opener from a Stefan Gostic pass brought up the century for the Tigers,

Holbeach soon got their second, as another good move saw the ball end up at the feet of frontman Jamal Nyang, who made no mistake with his sidefoot finish.

Sleaford’s keeper pulled off a number of smart stops, before Lawrence buried his second of the game to make it 3-0.

As the first half came to a close Freddie Dye came on and helped himself to a fourth before the break with a very good finish.

Only one goal came after the break, but it was the pick of the bunch as Lawrence thundered home a stunner to complete his hat-trick.

The treble earned him joint man of the match with left back Josh Yellop, who had a great game.

YAXLEY U/16s 2

TWO strikes in the second half tamed the young Tigers.

Yaxley struck a post after 25 minutes, but the best chance of the first half was created by Holbeach. Chris Briggs, Matt Rose, Luke Want and Tom Coote combined to pick out Craig Weightman, who saw his shot parried into the path of Kiran Bhondi, who fired wide.

Jamie Casey was then inches away from opening the scoring from Weightman’s corner.

Holbeach keeper Marcus Clifton made a good save after the break, but could do nothing to stop Yaxley’s opener.

Chances came and went for the Tigers after that, with Chris Briggs twice seeing efforts blocked and Matt Rose having a sweet volley saved.

Another fine stop from Clifton kept the home side in it, before a breakaway goal sealed their fate.

BARROWBY U/14s 5

HOLBEACH UNITED U/14s 3

STUNNED Holbeach blew a 3-0 lead a Barrowby roared back to take the spoils.

The young Tigers started superbly and raced ahead with two well-taken goals from Jordan Keeble and a peach of a strike from Luke Dobbie.

But that was as good as it got for Holbeach, who then stopped playing and got what they deserved.

Barrowby wanted it more than Holbeach and scored five goals without reply for a deserved victory.

SLEAFORD TOWN A U/12s 0

WYBERTON COLTS U/12s 1

COLTS came out on top of a mouth-watering Mid Lincs Cup quarter-final clash between two of Division One’s top teams.

The teams were equally balanced early on, but Wyberton took total control of the game after the break, producing wave after wave of attack.

Sleaford’s keeper had a storming game, but he was eventually beaten when a great run and cross by Ben Lawrence was hammered home by Jacko Withers.

Holbeach lad Scott Waterfall, Lawrence, Withers, Riley Hall and Mitchell Teft all had excellent games.

SPALDING ATHLETIC U/11s 2

HAMPTON U/11s 0

IT took a super Spalding showing to take the points in a tight Division One tussle.

Lewis Elston went close to giving Athletic the lead early on, while Hampton had an effort of their own kicked off the line.

In the dying seconds of the first half Compton saw his effort blocked on the line too.

The deadlock was finally broken when Charlie Ford’s cross found Joe Waumsley, who half-volley the opener into the bottom corner.

With only five minutes left Spalding sealed all three points when Alex Richardson picked out the top corner.

MARCH SS U/9s 1

HOLBEACH UNITED U/9s 2

THE young Tigers’ fantastic season continued when they roared into the semi-finals of the League Cup.

Within ten minutes a great move saw captain Alfie Wilson feed Calum Hoole, who played a delightful pass into James Clark.

The young striker then smashed home perhaps the pick of his 35 goals this season, beating the keeper with a 20-yard screamer.

Holbeach continued to pile on the pressure and after 20 minutes it was 2-0. Again it was Clark who stepped up and fired a stunning free-kick in off the underside of the bar.

The second half again saw more good Holbeach play, with Hoole, Clark, Jack Cunnington and man-of-the-match Lewis Collishaw having chances to extend the lead.

But it was March who caused a nervous final few minutes when they breached the Holbeach defence and left keeper Jenson Patterson with no chance.

Holbeach held on though, with Thomas Moxon, Jack Smith and Wilson standing firm in defence.

YOUNG DONS U/9s 1

ST HELENS U/9s 2

DONS suffered heartbreak as their run in the Onyx Cup ended in the quarter-finals.

They started superbly, as Luke Hood lost his marker to spin away and fire in the opening goal at the near post.

Dons continued to look the better side throughout the first half, but St Helens always looked capable of scoring and Charlie Rodgers in the goal did well to keep a clean sheet.

However, the visitors did manage to force their way back into the game with an equaliser early in the second half.

Harvey Wirkowski caused the visitors defence ongoing problems as the half wore on, but Dons just could not carve out the elusive winning goal and were hit by a sucker-punch five minutes from time.

There was a chaotic finale as Dons piled everyone forward – with keeper Rodgers almost latching onto a chance.

YOUNG DONS U/9s 9

WELTON U/9s 1

THOMAS Langford fired his first hat-trick for the club as Dons hit nine.

Dons started surprisingly slowly, with only brave smothered stop from Charlie Rodgers keeping the scores level.

However, they gradually began to show signs of improvement and went into the half-time break with a 5-0 advantage.

Welton struck back early in the second half with a goal of their own, but Dons always looked dangerous going forward and Thomas Langford, Michael Baxter and Aaron Clarke all dealt with any further threats from their opponents.

Four more second-half goals followed, with the nine coming from Langford (3), Tyler McKendrick (2), Luke Hood (2) Mason Shores and an own goal.
