PINCHBECK UNITED 2 EYE SPORTS 1: DANNY Maddison’s stunning free kick booked Pinchbeck United a deserved place in the PFA Senior Cup final at London Road.

Just a week after their Lincs Cup semi-final exit at Market Rasen, United set the record straight with a trademark performance at Knight Street on Saturday.

In a dominant first-half display, Luke Wilson saw an effort come back off the post and player/boss Ian Dunn forced a save before Andy Law grabbed an opener.

The midfielder fired home at the back post after a flick on from striker Dunn.

It was tighter after the interval, but Maddison’s sensational curling effort into the top corner settled any United nerves.

Luke Elsom pulled one back for Eye late on, but Pinchbeck had already done enough to book a final with city side Netherton at the home of Peterborough United on April 30.

Delighted Dunn said: “This was the response I wanted, the lads are buzzing about reaching the final.

“The frustrating thing is that Eye are much better than Rasen, I still can’t believe we lost there.

“It’ll be great to play at Posh. The pitch is big and I think that’ll be in our favour.

“But I guess we’ll be in the minority there with them being the home side. We’re confident, though.”

Pinchbeck: Drury, Clay, Marshall, Hocking, Maddison, Wilson (Woods 75), McDonnell (Lawrence 85), Maltby, Law, Dunn, Gosling (Butler 65). Not used: Roberts, Cole.
