Fenway B’s dreams of a Hart-Marler Spalding and District Pool League double were scuppered by rivals Fisherman’s Arms on finals night.

Having edged out the Pode Hole outfit by just one leg in the race for the league title, the top two’s showdown in the KO Cup final was the pick of the fixtures at Spalding Services Club.

With both teams having won 23 of their 26 league games, a close final was always on the cards.

And so it proved, with Glenn Harrison, Terry Shaw, Adam Mayer, Paul Grimwood, George Orr and Sean O’Connor firing Fisherman’s to a 5-3 success over the league champions.

Not content with the cup crown, two Fisherman’s players brought the Doubles crown back to Pode Hole too.

Mayer and Shaw teamed up once again to defeat Lake Ross A duo Richard Faulkner and Mark Pallatt 3-1.

In the Mixed Pairs, it was a night to remember for impressive Drayman’s Arms combination Wigs Harrison and Lisa Fitter.

They made light work of Lake Ross B’s Stuart and Rachel Adams, romping to a convincing 3-0 success.

Perhaps the closest match of the evening was the Singles final between Martin Perkins (Fenway/SHC) and Tony Branch (Drayman’s Arms).

The titanic tussle went right down to the final black of the final frame, with the cue aces tied together at 2-2. Perkins eventually sunk the black to take the crown 3-2.

The Ladies’ Singles final was another incredibly close battle, as Lake Ross B’s Rachel Adams squared off against Drayman’s potter Fitter.

Again it went to the last frame in a high quality match, with Fitter eventually prevailing 3-2 and adding the trophy to her Mixed Pairs gong.

It wasn’t quite as tight in the Captain’s finale between Lake Ross A skipper Faulkner and champion Fenway B leaders Chris Page.

It was Faulkner who bagged the title 3-1, making up for his earlier loss in the Doubles.
