Long-term Spalding and District Billiards League leaders Holbeach B sealed the title with a game to spare with a 5-2 triumph at Donington.
Wins for Chris Chamberlain (R80) and Ashley Bunn (R90) helped clinch the crown, while team-mate Nigel Ward (R100) was just edged out.
That takes them an unassailable 12.5 points clear of the rest – and breaks the Pyramid Club’s hold on the Soames Shield. The Bourne club have won the league title in each of the past five seasons.
Away from the title race, Consti B’s Mick Johnson once again pocketed the best break of the week. The O160 handicapper made scores of 69 and 60 in a 5-2 loss at Consti D.
There was also a rare win for basement boys Gosberton, who won 5-2 at Holbeach A. Malc Dennis (R110) and David Haresign (R100) sealed the success.
