Holbeach brothers Ryan, Ashley and Kieran Rudd were back on the track over the weekend as they made an encouraging start to the new motocross season.
Racing at Chatteris in the Peterborough Motocross Club on Sunday, the Team TRM trio all showed glimpses of their undoubted potential.
The youngest of the three siblings, Kieran, is now eight years old and looking sharp in his third year in the ‘Autos’ category.
Looking more assured then ever on his bike, he roared to a pair of second places in his opening two outings.
A third place followed in the finale, which helped clinch an excellent second place overall out of nine riders.
Meanwhile, there’s now something of a sibling rivalry in the ‘Schoolboy’ group, with 14-year-old Ashley joining brother Ryan (16) in the competitive field.
As expected, fast-starting Ryan just had the edge and managed a solid fourth overall in the 29-bike field.
He placed fifth in the first race before going one better to grab fourth in the second.
Disaster struck in the finale though, as he hit the gate and dropped back to last. But he battled back to secure fifth place in his best ride of the day.
Ashley enjoyed a good debut, having made the step up to a 250 bike. He sealed a ninth and two 11th-placed finishes (11th overall), getting as high as eighth in the second before a red flag forced a restart.
The trio are back at Chatteris on March 24 as the new season gathers pace.
