Bourne Rugby Club are to host The Joseva Lewaicei and Adam Morris Trophy memorial game at Milking Nook Drove on Saturday, March 16.

The club last hosted the game back in May 2009, having been played in Celle, Germany and Dheklia, Cyprus for the past couple of years.

This trophy is contested in memory of Privates Joseva Lewaicei and Adam Morris of C Company, Second Battalion the Royal Anglian Regiment - ‘The Poachers’.

They died in action on Saturday, May 13, 2006 when their patrol was hit by a roadside bomb on the Qarmat AH Bridge, Basra, Iraq. Only weeks before this tragedy, the Poachers rugby team played its final game before deploying to Iraq, against Bourne, where Lewaicei was named man of the match.

The two teams now contest this trophy annually.

A memorial service will be held at 1.30p before the 1.50pm kick off. There will also be half-time entertainment from the Royal Anglian Drum Corps. Refreshments, food and a raffle will be available on the day, with all money raised going to The Royal Anglian Benelovent Fund.
