If you’re looking for somewhere to get away from it all, I can fully recommend Ragdale Hall.
Whether you’re after a few hours of ‘me time’ or a few days of complete relaxation, Ragdale Hall can offer just what you’re looking for.
My husband Dan and I spent two days at the spa, which is set in the beautiful Leicestershire countryside, on an Overnight Reviver break.
The break, which usually costs £225 per person for two sharing a superior room, includes a buffet lunch, three-course dinner and breakfast in bed.
That’s along with the choice of either a full body massage or a natural harmony facial and full use of all the spa’s facilities.
The Overnight Reviver offers plenty of time to explore all that Ragdale has to offer, as well as slotting in some treatments and, of course, finding some time to relax.
I opted for the body massage as my inclusive treatment, while Dan upgraded his to an Elemis deep tissue massage for £39 extra.
On our arrival we were given a welcome drink and went through a quick and easy registration process.
We were then given a tour of the hall and shown to our room. We then had about two hours to spend at our leisure before our massage appointments.
We were keen to check out Ragdale’s multi-million pound Thermal Spa, so donned our swimsuits and the fluffy robes provided and made our way down to the spa.
The area features an indoor and outdoor waterfall pool (heated to 35c), a unique candle pool and a series of heat and water experiences.
We tried all five of the sauna-type rooms. The intense experience of the Volcanic Salt Bath was my favourite, while Dan preferred the tropical feeling of the Colour Flow Cave.
As all the rooms offer high humidity, it’s recommended that you spend a maximum of ten minutes in each.
Iced water flannels and the ice fountain offer the perfect way to cool down while providing health benefits such as improving circulation.
We finished off with a dip in the outdoor pool, which was beautiful.
By then it was time for our massages and we met up an hour later both feeling truly chilled out.
We had a couple of hours to kill before dinner and spent the time reading in the main lounge – a comfortable area where the spa’s resident cat Raggles has his own chair.
The food was delicious and healthy without compromising on flavour and the relaxed atmosphere throughout the spa (including the restaurant) meant I never had to worry about messy hair or a lack of make-up!
The next morning we were treated to a tasty breakfast served in our room, before I indulged myself with a fantastic Indian head massage.
While I was off being pampered Dan divided his time between the Thermal Spa and relaxing in the Pavilion – Ragdale’s latest addition – the area just oozes blissful relaxation and is Ragdale’s ultimate chill-out zone where you can read or just relax.
We were treated to a delicious buffet lunch and eventually left at about 5.30pm feeling completely relaxed after two days of pure bliss.
