Spalding United have signed King’s Lynn Town goalkeeper Alex Street.

Street will go straight into the side – although unlikely to be on Saturday with major doubt over the state of the pitch at Wellingborough Town.

The door is very much still open for Lee Drury, but Tulips boss Pat Rayment said his keeper has suffered a drop in confidence in the last few games and he had to act.

Rayment said on Friday: “I had a good chat with Lee about it last night.

“He’s been absolutely brilliant for us but, by his own admission, his confidence has suffered in the last three or four games.

“He’s a young boy and there are high expectations at this club. He hasn’t got a lot of experience to draw upon but I’m sure he’ll come back from this better, bigger and stronger.”

Street, who has made more than 100 appearances for Lynn, has signed dual registration forms and remains a part of the EvoStik League club’s plans for now.

He will definitely return to The Walks for the FA Trophy match against AFC Telford on Saturday, December 15, as Lynn’s first-choice keeper Danny Gay is cup-tied.

Rayment is expecting a response today (Friday) on an offer put to Lynn right-sided defender/midfielder Pat Bexfield.
