Long Sutton’s and Spalding’s 4th teams deservedly shared the points in a tight East League Division 6NW (N) derby.
Sutton opened the scoring from a short corner strike by Steve Hart and both teams had plenty of chances to score.
Sutton keeper Josh Thody was once again inspirational, but Spalding were good value for a well-taken equaliser by Steve Rodgers.
Long Sutton 2nd dominated the Division 4NW clash against St Neots 2nd and a 5-0 win consolidated their place at the top.
A sly poacher’s goal from Stef Fox after good work from Bailey opened the scoring and Bailey himself made it 2-0.
The fantastic Fox then reacted quicker than the St Neots defence to cleverly finish after more good work from Bailey.
Alex Canham came off the bench to score his first 2nd team goal.
Sutton continued to dominate, but were restricted to only one more goal, which came from Bailey.
Long Sutton 1st were harshly beaten 5-3 by Crostyx 1sts in Premier B.
Crostyx went 3-0 up before Nick Ellis smashed the ball home from a short corner.
Crostyx went down to ten men and Sutton pounced, Gary Hales firing in their second. Sutton were rampant and Whatling and Allen linked up well to find Andy Shore, he found Hales who directed to Sisson to slot home.
Crostyx converted a penalty stroke to take the lead. Sutton pushed for an equaliser with all out attack but this only led to them conceding a fifth goal.
Long Sutton 3rd had a terrific 4-0 win at Spalding 5th in Division 6NW.
Sub striker Ian White pounced on a rebound for 1-0 and a deflected goal from a White short corner strike douibled the lead. And that man then completed his hat-trick before Dan Fisher sealed a comfortable win for the side in second. Spalding keeper Max Pearce kept the score down.
Meanwhile, Spalding 3rd lost 5-1 to St Ives 2nd after starting well with great play at the back from Robert Tilbrook, Alistair Main, Claude Smith-Hughes and Ryan Mountney.
Stand-in keeper Luke Jackson made some great saves.
Ladies’ round-up: Top-of-the-table Rutland 1st looked to be beaten by Spalding Ladies 2nd until a goal in the final minute made it 5-5.
Karen Thorold put Spalding ahead early in the Cambs Ladies’ League Premier Division clash. There was outstanding play by centres Coral Wild and Steph Wilson, scoring four goals between them.
Solid defence from Maisie Dobbs and team enabled Spalding to keep ahead until the dying seconds.
Meanwhile, a solitary Karen Breen goal clinched a Spalding Poachers 1st victory at Bourne/Deeping Ladies 1st in East Women’s League Division 2NW.
Jacqui Hunter, Annie Dalton and Karen Timby all went close.
Then just before half time Hunter made a run from deep, beating the Dragons midfield before a defence-splitting pass found Breen who fired home a first-time shot.
A young Long Sutton Ladies 2nd team had plenty of play at Boston but could not convert their chances. Boston won the Lincolnshire Ladies Green League match 4-0.
A great performance by depleted Long Sutton 1st earned a 0-0 draw at Dereham. There were notable efforts from keeper Lorraine Wallis, and debutant Jeorgia Carr and Laura Temple on the wings.
