Mick Limming does have one marathon under his belt, in Glasgow, but that was almost 30 years ago when he was working as a submariner for the Royal Navy.
He joined the Navy at 16 and got to visit many countries during a 20-year career.
It was when he left that behind and set up his own taxi company in Lincoln that his weight problems began.
Mick says: “I was very active in the military and played rugby for the Navy, and it was going from an active lifestyle to a relatively inactive one when my weight spiralled to 32 stones.”
However, Mick says: “I am mentally prepared for it. I know the pains and I know the distance. My wife and four children are all behind me and looking forward to coming down to London and supporting me.”
