A popular Holbeach artexer will have a lasting tribute thanks to the success of a charity ball.
Graham Mackman, of Holbeach, was diagnosed with lung cancer in May last year and died the following September at the age of 61.
His daughter, Kelly Beba, decided she would like to raise money for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Fund and, together with six of her friends, organised the Crystal Charity Ball.
Kelly said: “When we found out my dad had cancer it was unfortunately too late for him, but we wanted to do something to help someone else.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of local businesses who sponsored tables and donated gifts for the auction and raffle.
“It was such a good night we are definitely organising another for next year.”
More than 200 attended the ball at the South Holland Centre in Spalding and it is expected more than £6,000 has been raised.
There was a three-course meal, with music from 80s’ tribute band the Wild Boys and a disco provided by Generation K.
The date for next year’s event is expected to be posted soon on the organisers’ website www.thecrystalcharityball.org
Anyone who would like to sponsor it is asked to email spaldingcharityball@gmail.com
