A nursery which has been open just five months is celebrating a good result after being one of the first in the country to undergo a new-style Ofsted inspection.

Willows Day Nursery in Fleet Hargate achieved a “good” rating in all four categories after being praised for its “inspirational leadership and high aspirations for quality” by inspector Sharon Alleary.

She also praised the stimulating and motivating environment and commitment to delivering daily physical activities and opportunities to learn about healthy eating.

The inspection highlighted that the nursery is developing each child’s individuality and their readiness for school is enhanced by inspirational teaching in letters and sounds.

Owner and manager Vicky Pitts said all staff at the nursery are proud of what they have achieved so far.

She said: “However, it is what the inspector said about our children that we are thrilled with.

“Behaviour is very good and all children from the very youngest show a confidence and strong sense of belonging within the nursery.”

The only recommendation was to support staff to use good questioning techniques to help extend children’s vocabulary.
