A warning has gone out after a couple in Gosbterton Clough were victims of a distraction burglary.

Lincolnshire Police issued the warning following the incident on Wednesday, at a house in Clough Road.

At about 8pm, a spokesman said, man came to the door claiming to be from the waterboard and stated that he needed to find the stop tap in order to deal with a neighbour’s burst pipe.

The spokesman said the man was allowed into the house and kept the couple occupied in the kitchen while another offender gained entry to the bedroom via a rear window.

An amount of cash was stolen, along with a wallet and bank cards.

It is believed there were three offenders in total, all wearing dark clothing. The first man is described as wearing a black puffa jacket and a hat with a peak and ear flaps.

Police said they left the area in a dark car.
