HOMES across South Holland will be included in a trial to map the exact location of every property in East Anglia.
Royal Mail is in the process of sending letters to every household to explain the pilot scheme which will see postal workers use satellite receives to record precise property co-ordinates.
A spokesman said the intiative was launched in response to “market demand” for more accurate location information.
The distance measuring devices will map the GPS longitude, latitude and altitude co-ordinates.
Keith Jones, who is leading the Pinpoint project, said: “For individuals and companies, many everyday activities involve using information which is based on the location of an address.
“The emergency services, satellite navigation systems used by motorists and smartphone applications use this information.”
Royal Mail wants to assure everyone that no images or personal images will be collected and postal services will not be affected.
