TWO new youth theatre projects are launching at Spalding’s South Holland Centre with cash from Lincolnshire County Council and the Lottery through Arts Council England.

Neon Youth Theatre, backed by a professional theatre group Zest, will run for three years and allow young people aged 11-25 to write, produce and perform their own plays.

The aim is for the youth theatre to play a central role in the life of the South Holland Centre and for its young members to have a say in how the centre works with young people.

South Holland Centre manager Sally Harrison said: “Creating a new young theatre company where members produce original shows from their own ideas and talents is the aim of this inspiring new project.”

There’s also a summer challenge from August 13-17 so youngsters aged 11-19 can devise a new theatre production and have it ready in five days to perform to a live audience.

Places for the summer challenge are free but should be booked now on 01775 764777.
