POLICE are asking everyone to look in their sheds and report if their lawnmower has been stolen after parts were discovered during a stop and search.
Part of a petrol mower was discovered after a suspect was stopped late at night and a search of his home uncovered another part to the same machine.
But none of the lawnmowers reported stolen to Lincolnshire Police match the make and model of the recovered one.
A spokesman said: “It is possible that, with the rain, people haven’t been cutting their grass as much and so the victim of the theft isn’t aware that their mower has gone.”
Without proof the mower was stolen it is feared will be insufficient evidence to charge the suspect.
Anyone who has had a petrol mower stolen who hasn’t reported it can contact police on 101.
