Sports groups in South Holland are finding out today whether they are to get a share of cash windfall of almost £700,000.

An announcement is due on which groups will receive grants from the Inspired Facilities Olympic legacy fund run by Sport England.

The successful bidders will be revealed during a presentation event at Wyberton Sports and Social Club by four-time Olympic cyclist Bryan Steel.

A total fund of £686,903 is to be shared between 12 sports projects in Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire to help improve their facilities and encourage more people to play sports.

The Wyberton complex is one of projects in line for funding to provide new changing rooms for use by the local community.

Other activities planned for the event include demonstrations of hockey, women’s football, tri-golf, wheelchair basketball, cricket and martial arts.

Inspired Facilities was set up by Sport England as a way of ensuring a continued legacy for the UK after the London 2012 Olympics. A total of £50million of National Lottery funding will be invested in 1,000 community sports projects between 2011 and 2014.
