Several South Holland-based stock car racers are heading to the Adrian Flux Arena, King’s Lynn, on Saturday (6pm) in search of qualifying points for two of the sport’s biggest championships.

The BriSCA Formula One Stock Cars contest a world qualifying round which takes on extra significance as the World Championship final will be staged at the track later this year.

Supporting the American V8-engined cars is a packed programme of races for the always entertaining BriSCA Formula Two Stock Cars and Ministox.

A big turnout of Formula Two Stock Cars is expectedwith the meeting being a World of Shale qualifying round – another championship that has its final at the Saddlebow Road shaleway later this year.

Local hopes will rest with Carl Issitt (Sutton St James), James Waterfall (Gedney Hill) and Justin Parker (Low Fulney), all of whom are more than capable of winning races at the fast King’s Lynn track.

The Formula One Stock Car entry includes the likes of Norfolk’s leading driver Mat Newson, former world champion Lee Fairhurst (Lancashire) and legendary Frankie Wainman Jr (Yorkshire).

Last weekend’s action was relentless in the Two-Litre Saloon Stock Cars.

Both Jamie Clayton (Moulton) and Simon Venni (Sutton St James) left with a hatful of points after a good night’s racing.

Clayton was fifth in the final after coming second in a heat race while Venni had two top-10 finishes before rounding off the night with a win in the allcomers race.

Gosberton’s Andi Newman will be pleased with his efforts which yielded a win in the opening race for lower graded drivers and fourth in the allcomers.
